Biography
Mariano De Cristofaro is a third-year Ph.D. candidate in Chemistry and Materials Science at the University of Pisa. He holds a master’s degree in Analytical Chemistry and specializes in the development of advanced mass spectrometry-based methods for clinical applications. His current research focuses on the quantitative analysis of cardiovascularly active peptides in human plasma and saliva using liquid chromatography coupled with tandem mass spectrometry. His work aims to develop and validate innovative and reliable analytical tools to support early diagnosis and effective monitoring of patients with cardiovascular diseases.

Education
• M.S., Chemistry (Curriculum: Analytical Chemistry), University of Pisa, 2022
• B.Sc., Chemistry, University of Salerno, 2020

Research interests
Mariano’s research interest lies in the field of bioanalytical chemistry, with a particular focus on the development and validation of mass spectrometry-based approaches for clinical studies. He is interested in targeted and untargeted proteomics and peptidomics, biomarker discovery, and the characterization of biologically active molecules in complex matrices. His current projects involve applying chromatographic and spectrometric techniques to investigate molecular mechanisms underlying cardiovascular diseases and to identify new diagnostic and prognostic tools for improved patient care and disease management.
