Biography
Alessia Cipolli is a PhD student in Chemistry and Material Sciences at the Department of Chemistry and Industrial Chemistry, University of Pisa. She is part of the Chemistry Lab for Analytical Technologies and Sensors (CATS), where her research focuses on developing innovative CRISPR/Cas-based biosensing strategies. Alessia holds a cum laude master’s degree in chemistry (Analytical Chemistry curriculum) from the University of Pisa. Her interests lie at the intersection of analytical chemistry, biotechnology, and nanomaterials for next-generation diagnostic tools.
Education
• Ph.D., Chemistry and Materials Science, University of Pisa, 2025 – present time
• M. Sc, Chemistry, curriculum Analytical Chemistry, University of Pisa, 2025
• B. Sc, Chemistry, University of Pisa, 2023
Research interests
Her research focuses on developing innovative biosensing platforms for clinical diagnostics. During her master’s thesis, she worked on bacteriophage-based impedimetric biosensors for bacterial detection, optimizing phage immobilization to enhance target capture and sensor performance. Currently, her PhD explores CRISPR/Cas-based biosensing approaches to broaden detection capabilities beyond conventional methods. Her overarching goal is to advance biosensor technologies and pioneer next-generation point-of-care diagnostic devices through the integration of cutting-edge analytical and biotechnological strategies.
