Research
BioSensors, Surface Chemistry, Electrochemistry, Organic Synthesis.

Biography
After his Master studies in Organic Chemistry of radical inhibitors (with Prof. Lars Engman, University of Uppsala, Sweden) Arno Kirchhain joined for a one year period Prof. Henning Höppe (University of Augsburg, Germany) performing solid state synthesis of Lanthanide containing luminescent materials. He is currently PhD student in the workgroup of Prof. Fabio Di Francesco at the Department of Chemistry and Industrial Chemistry of the University of Pisa where he investigates the surface functionalization of gold electrodes for the development of biosensors for the detection of enzyme levels.

Education
M.Sc., General Chemistry with focus on molecular materials, University of Erlangen-Nuremberg, Germany and Uppsala University, Sweden, 2014
B.Sc., Molecular Science, University of Erlangen-Nuremberg, Germany, 2011

Research interests
Arno Kirchhain’s research interests lie in the combination of organic synthesis and surface chemistry with electronics for the development of biosensors. He is especially interested in the covalent functionalization of self-assembled monolayers for the development of biosensors for the continuous measurement of wound tissue biomarkers.
